Abstract

This research was created to provide insight into strengthening national identity. National identity is the identity of a nation that can differentiate it from other nations. In the current era of globalization, national identity is being threatened due to current developments. This research will also discuss the dimensions of national identity, dissecting its elements, and the role of citizenship education in strengthening national identity. The dimensions of national identity include historical dimensions which can be traced through the history of the nation, culture which can be traced through cultural wealth, social which can be traced through interactions between individuals, and politics which can be analyzed through the nation's constitutional system. The role of citizenship education as a tool or means for instilling the nation's noble values, the history of the struggle for independence, love for one's country, and nationalism. The results of this research are expected to be able to provide an understanding of the dimensions of national identity and strengthen national identity through Civic education.
